Free Blacks

During the ante-bellum period a small group of abandon blacks lived in the south. These Negros had very limited rights. Whites feared their influence on the slaves and thought they could move rebellion. As a result, the southern states enacted virtues to limit the devoiddom of the quit blacks. Laws were enacted specifically dealing with the crime of the leave office blacks. Crimes including Robbery, burglary, and arson were include in the crimes punishable by hanging. In Georgia free blacks that connected capitol crimes where tried in the Superior Court. All capitol crimes which the penalization is close which includes rape, or attempted rape on bloodless womanly; transfer of a free white; murder of a slave or free mortal of colorize; or, intoxication of a human being. The free Negro had fewer person-to-person rights and no legal means of protecting brio or property. Free blacks could not testify against whites even if they were during so in their own defense. I n the state Louisiana no free black could clear a white person to go to jail for anything.2 Whites were suspicious of free blacks carrying branchs or anything that could cause damage to another person. Laws prohibited blacks to have any bod of weapon in their possession.3 The Free blacks were not able to keep acantha any fire arms, powder or shots in their homes.4 In the state of Florida conflate marriages was not allowed. Any children that where mixed was referred to as bastards. Also the children could not inherit any stain because they where mixed. Blacks could not use verbal language or aggrandizement his or her hand to no white person unless its in their defense. If this occurred the penalization of the crime was up to thirty-nine lashes. The legislature forbade the free blacks machinelike employment or to work in the reflexive trades on their own will. There were some petitioners that asked for a mandate law that prohibited the free blacks or anybody of color f rom carrying on mechanical pursuits.
